Choi Cheolhan vs Yi Sedol - KBL 2011

This game ended few minutes ago. It was very interesting and difficult to understand for weaker players, like me. Choi Cheolhan had a good start and was better in the opening I think. But in fighting Yi Sedol is very strong and beat Choi by 2.5 pts in the end.

Yi Sedol vs Pak Jeongsang

Yesterday was a game of the 2nd stage in the Korean Baduk League. 이 세돌 vs 박 영상.

First the black group was dead but after a mistake (?) from Jeongsang Sedol was back in the game and won the semeai in an impressive way. Move 42 and move 78 were the losing moves I suppose.

Kido Cup 2011

The Kido Cup in Hamburg, Germany is coming again this year. Instead of the "Hamburger monkey jump" there will be a typical Korean style tournament! It's this weekend from 11th to 13th June 2011.

The sponsor Kido Industrial will sponser over 10.000€ prize money!!! What a huge amount for an European tournament.

Some European top-players will appear like Cristian Pop (7d), Ondrej Silt (6d), Mero Csaba (7d) or Pal Balogh (6d).

There are also over 5 professional players from Korea including Yeon Yeongseon 8p, Ko Juyeon 8p, Kim Youngsam 8p, Kim Sungrae 8p and Kwon Kapyong 7p. Mr. Kwon has a very famous Baduk school in Korea, he produced many pros like Yi Sedol, Choi Cheolhan or Yeon Yeongseon :)

That's NOT everything guys. A BadukTV-team will be there and WBaduk will send a representative to transmit the games on WBaduk. I guess it is the first time that a European tournament will be broadcast in Korea, very special :) Also there will be a broadcast on KGS.

Korean Baduk League 2011

The next season of the Korean Baduk League is started. It is really nice to see such a tournament...unfortunately Baduk TV isn't available anymore - without costs. But I will try to post some news about this league. Especially it's an even, which isn't much in the news section of other blogs or websites...

OK, here we go. Thanks to igokisen, I can post the teams and members each of them...

The first game was between Shinan Chuncil Salt, the current champion, and Yeongnam Ilbo. Yi Sedol lead his team to the victory and a nice start into the new season.

His team won by 3-2.

6th Sipdan Round 3

Yi Sedol won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They played the same Fuseki and this time Yi proved that he had learned from the last game.
Funny fact: r12 is wrong, according to 21st Century New Openings 3, as it makes things to easy for white, seeing the giant territory on the right side I think I can understand why.

There also where some pretty nice exchanges in this game and thus it made me realise that i realy have to do something about my judgement.

6th Sipdan Round 2

Yi Sedol lost the second round of the 6th Wonik Sipdan, now the score is 1:1 and the third game will decide the winner.

Yi lost by 0,5 points because he couldn't win the Ko. At first I thought: hey Yi could take the Ko instead of playing q7 and then Black is short one threat, but then I saw t10 and realised that black had 3 threats and not 2 like I thought for a moment.

3rd BC Card Cup Quarter Finals Round 2

Yi Sedol won against Chen Yaoye, and therefore will face Park Junghwan in the next round. I'm looking forward to this game, the last one between thos two was realy thrilling.

So now the game against Chen Yaoye:
No big kills this time but simply a nice game. Yi played a nice Fuseki (according to him he sucks at Fuseki and is going to study it now) and then started figthing. The game was relatively even and Yi won by 2.5 points in the end.

6th Sipdan Round 1(Finals)

Yi Sedol won the first game of the Sipdan finals, so if he wins the next game he'll win the finals.

The games seems to fit in nicely with Adoreme's last posts and is a nice example of how to attack groups.
I think one can realy learn alot about how shape works from this game, and it's also a nice game to watch if you are studying Fuseki.

Yi Sedol entered the Sipdan Final

YI Sedol bested Yi Younggoo in the semi-final of the sipdan. Now he will face Kang Yootack in the final match starting on March 30th.

Some words about the game: rather modern opening and some nice fighting, but black was hopeless against Yi Sedol.

Next round of the Korean Baduk league final stage. Yi Sedol's team won again! This time they defeaded Team Chungbuk & Konkuk Milk, team of Heo Yeongho. After failing two games in row, they made a comeback by winning last three games. Cho Hunhyun was beat by An Kukhyun 2dan. I will just post one games here but a lot pictures.
