organisation:
I think the orga was okay but really strict. I wanted to play the lightning tournament and I was too late for registration....at 2.15 p.m. If you wanted to play, e.g. the lightning tournament, you have to registrate before 12 a.m.. The tournament starts at 5 p.m....kinda shit. Of course I didn't know that before -.-
players strength:
I think the main problem of this congress were the French players ranks. Due to their system, I heard that they just can rank up after a tournament, if I am correct. So people registrated as 1k, 4k or 5k or even weaker played good results like 7:3, 8:2, 9:1 or even 10:0 - btw...5:0 in the first week.
E.g. a friend of mine - 4dan - played a 1k with a standing of 7:0!
Anyway the French system should be overthought !!!
accommondation:
I lived in a nice and big house with other people... It was very comfortable, besides their kids ^^ - who were very noisy from time to time. The house had a pool :)
First place was Kim Yeongsam from South Korea with a perfect score of 10 victories. Ilya Shikshin placed second and defended his European title against Catalin Taranu, who got third. Here are some pics of the podium:
Kim Yeongsam 7dan |
Ilya Shikshin 7dan |
Catalin Taranu 5p |
Besides the best players of the main tournament I saw a nice future of the European Baduk community...there were many young highdan players from several countries:
Artem Kachanovskyy 7dan |
Thomas Debarre 6dan |
Ali Jabarin 6dan |
Dusan Mitic 6dan |
Jonathan Lidor 5dan |
Lukas Kraemer 5dan |
Pavol Lisy 5dan |
Vanessa Wong 5dan |
A-J Savolainen 5dan |
